Medicare will cover some aspects of Alzheimer's care. It depends on many situations.

Diagnosis and doctor treatment should be a covered expense under Medicare.

Prescription drugs designed to treat Alzheimer's may be covered under your Medicare Part D.

In patient care in a hospital or SNF may also be a covered expense as well as rehab and hospice. Your doctor is in a position to advise you on these items.

Medicare will pay for medical expenses for someone having Alzheimer's, like it pays for medical expenses for persons not having Alzheimer's. If the person with Alzheimer's Disease needs to live in a facility due to being unable to care for themselves, and if they have been hospitalized for at least 3 days shortly before going to that facility, Medicare can help pay for up to 100 days in that facility. After that, private funds, Long Term Care Insurance benefits, or Medicaid must be used to pay for residential care.
