    In order for the CT scan to be covered by Medicare, it must be deemed medically necessary via doctor's orders, and Medicare must agree with the order. The Computerized Axial Tomography (CT) scan must be performed by a health care provider who participates in Medicare. Medicare Part A covers CT scans performed in a hospital or skilled nursing facility; Medicare Part B covers CT scans performed as an outpatient.
