    Your renter’s insurance covers damage to your personal property.  Lost property isn’t exactly damaged property.  There is a limit to coverage for property away from your residence.  Your claim would adjusted on the replacement cost of the phone after you pay the deductible.  You might receive something for a lost cell phone; however, it might be more trouble than it is worth to file the claim.
