   In order for roommates to be covered by renters insurance roommates must be listed on the policy. Many companies will not cover more then 1 roommate so often times each person residing in the property would need to purchase their own renters policy as well. An Insurance company will assume a risk based on the application and does not look to cover what they have not been made aware of. Especially in a liability situation.
