The cost of a renters policy is determined by the amount and type of coverage you choose.  It can also be dependent upon the age of the building, the number of units in the building, proximity to fire department services etc.  Some of my clients in CT have policies that cost them around $14.00 a month while others pay around $30.00 or more.

I saw a recent TV ad stating that some particular company provided renter’s insurance for $8.00 month or less.  That doesn’t mean anything.  My average renter’s policy is probably around $12.00 month but that is not a reflection on the company I might use, rather it is a reflection on the values being insured.  There are also regional differences and other underwriting concerns.  Get a quote and find out how much it is going to cost you.  Agents give quotes for free.
