Striking a pothole would be no different then striking any other stationary object or colliding with another vehicle. This type of incident would be considered a collision. If you carry collision coverage you will be covered minus your deductible. However depending on the situation you may be charged for an at fault accident. I recommend you discuss the details with your insurance provider.

If you auto policy covers collision, pot hole damage should be covered. The repair should be reimbursed minus the deductible. When you file a claim it could affect future premiums. Discuss a small claim with your agent, it might be better to arrange for the repair without filing a claim.

If you collide with a pothole this would fall under the collision portion of your policy. Ao as long as you have collision coverage you have coverage for damage from a pothole minus your deductible. Here are a couple things to consider. Damage to your tires would be depreciated based on the length of life left on the tires. Also many carriers consider this an at-fault accident so I would suggest you talk to your agent about the specifics of your potential claim. You also may want to contact the local municipalities about the pothole as there is potential negligence in maintaining the roadway.
