Coverage for jewelry is usually subject to a specific limit. Most companies will allow some increase in coverage by endorsement. Most companies will provide complete coverage with a floater. The floater is based upon an appraisal and provides 24 hour coverage worldwide. If the insured jewelry is lost the policy will pay full replacement value without any deductible.

Jewelry is covered under a homeowner’s policy. Most homeowner’s policies have an internal limit to the amount of coverage for jewelry. Under the homeowner’s policy the loss of jewelry is subject to the deductible on the policy. People are rarely satisfied with the adjustment made on jewelry under their homeowner’s policy. A jewelry floater is supplemental coverage that can be provided and it will replace the lost jewelry or pay a stated amount. This coverage must be backed up by an appraisal. There isn’t usually a deductible on a jewelry floater.
