I think what you are asking is would a Homeowner's policy provide support to stay in a hotel if your home is uninhabitable as a result of a covered loss. It is always a good idea to discuss the specific terms and conditions of your policy with your Insurance Professional, of course. However, in my experience here in CT, most Homeowners' policies include coverage for "extra expense" incurred if you have to live elsewhere while your home is being repaired or rebuilt after a covered loss. This is usually necessary after a rather serious occurence that makes a home completely uninhabitable due to structural damage, a fire or hurricane for example. In the cases I have seen involving only electric power loss to a home, this is usually as a result of a storm. In situations like that, I have not seen a case where the home has been genuinely uninhabitable for an extended period of time. Power is usually restored within a few hours.

Hotels are covered under commercial insurance. A homeowner’s policy is a package made for personal lines insurance. Neither a commercial policy nor a homeowner’s routinely provides coverage for a power outage that occurs off site. If the centricity company is at fault, they are the ones that need the insurance.
