The homeowner’s policy is a legal contract. The purpose of the contract is to protect you if you experience a “peril.” Perils include fire, windstorm, hail, sleet etc. Defects in construction are not an anticipated peril. If you have a sudden defect report it to your insurance company. They “adjust” claims. That means they take the contract and determine if coverage applies. Although I would find it difficult there might be coverage under some circumstances.
