Medicare Part A is called Hospital Insurance. With some exceptions, it covers inpatient services at hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and rehab facilities, as well as home health and hospice services.

Medicare Part B is called Medical Insurance. Again, with some exceptions, it covers doctor's services, durable medical equipment, hospital outpatient services, labs, mental health care, some preventative care, and some home health and ambulance services.

All the services must be medically necessary and must be approved by Medicare to be covered.
