Medicare only partially covers electric lift chairs under Medicare Part B (only the lifting mechanism will be covered, not the entire unit). Lift chairs would be considered a type of durable medical equipment and certain requirements would need to be met for Medicare to provide the coverage for lift chairs (e.g. being prescibed for use in your home by your physician and/or requesting a certificate of medical necessity).

Under Part B, Medicare will cover 80% of the costs of DMEs, leaving you responsible for the other 20%. A Medicare supplement can help you cover the other 20% of expenses.
