In layman&#039;s terms it means that the premise that is covered is unihabitable for a period of time due to a covered loss. Under these circumstances the insurance carrier will typically provide the insured with monitary compensation to secure another premise for a specified period of time or up to the policy limits  until the covered premise is deemed habitable again or the insured has secured another premise.
