The most popular Medicare Supplement insurance policy is Medigap Plan F; however, Medigap Plan G is right on the heels of Plan F.

Plan F is popular because of the comprehensive health care coverage it provides. It will cover all your Medicare approved charges not paid by Original Medicare Part A and Part B. This means you do not have to worry about co-insurance, deductibles or co-pays.

Plan G is gaining popularity because it strongly resembles Plan F. The only difference is you have to satisfy the annual Part B deductible ($147 2014) before your Part B benefits kick in. Once you've met the deductible, your Plan G acts just like Plan F. Why would someone choose Plan G over Plan F? Price. You can often find Plan G at a lower premium...even when you include the cost of the Part B deductible.

To determine which Medigap Plan is right for you it's a great idea to speak with an independent agent specializing in Medicare Supplement insurance. There are a number of insurance companies that offer Medigap Plan F and Plan G. Often, the best premiums are with the companies you do not see online.
