Yes you can, but you will more than likely pay more than someone with good credit. Remember your auto insurance rates are based on many factors, credit is just one them. There are many companies out there if you feel that the rate is too high at one, then check the rate with another. I would always recommend working with a local agent. They are going to be there when you need them and you are supporting your community.

Yes you can get auto insurance with bad credit. the challenge is that you will likely pay a higher rate.
However not all insurance companies are going to treat your credit issues exactly the same. You should visit an independent agent that can search several companies and provide you with the best rate and coverage.

State regulations vary.  In California your credit rating is not considered in setting an auto premium.  The companies that I represent require that you have a checking account or credit card.  In California the rating is based on year, make and model of the vehicle.  They consider the mileage and use of the vehicle.  Since the vehicle is assigned to a household, the driving record of all the occupants is considered.

In Michigan your credit does effect the price but you can get insurance just the rate will most likely be higher some companies don't check credit so my advice would be to call around to check prices or go on line and do some pricing just be careful because sometimes doing to many in one day may block your insurance score

Great question! In most cases bad credit won't keep you from getting insured, but it can make it more expensive. The good thing is that often we think our credit is worse than an insurer would. If you had a medical emergency, for example, that really hurt you financially, will be considered and forgiven by most financial institutions. Find an independent agent who can help you find a company that will be more forgiving. Good luck! Thanks for asking!

You can get auto insurance with bad credit. As a car insurance broker with 33 years of experience, this issue is a common situation we help customers with.

Although great credit often helps lower rates, bad credit does not mean you will be considered high risk. There are are several companies that will provide competitive pricing.
