    In California you can become a car insurance agent by passing one of a couple of appropriate examinations conducted by the California Insurance Commissioner. Before taking the examination you must complete a specified course of instruction and a course on ethical behavior. Your state insurance commissioner probably has a website that details these requirements in your state. Finally, you must be appointed by an admitted insurance company in your state.
