All health insurance plans now cover maternity. They handle maternity just like any other claim. So how much it would cost you depends on the plan you get.... What is the deductible? What is the out-of-pocket maximum? If you're buying a plan specifically because you see childbirth down the road, consider 2 things: If you're pregnant now, you can't get insurance because you've obviously got a pre-existing condition. If you're not pregnant now, and you're buying a new plan, then you'll have to replace the plan by January anyway due to healthcare reform. So if you want health insurance now, there's really no reason to factor childbirth into the equasion because you'll be changing plans (due to healthcare reform) before you deliver.
