You have asked an excellent question.  While you will need to check with your specific insurance carrier and the details of your specific policy, it is generally best to operate from the assumption that you health insurance does not cover you outside of the United States.  This has been an unfortunate surprise for many people who have gone on a vacation overseas and then became ill or suffered an injury.

There are separate insurance policies that an international traveler can purchase to protect them overseas in the event of illness or injury and to provide coverage for possible medical transport back to the United States.  If you, a family member or friend are in need of such overseas coverage please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to assist you.
