Yes it can, but it must be for specific reasons based upon your Insurance Company's underwriting standards as filed with your State Insurance Department.  A few examples of things that may cause a company to cancel coverage is first, if you fail to pay your premium.  Also, if you have filed a number of claims in a short period of time causing a frequency and or a severity issue, this could result in your policy being non renewed.  One thing that is not premium payment related that could cause your policy to be cancelled mid term, is vacancy.  As always, talk to your Insurance Professional about the specific terms and conditions of your policy.

When an agent acts on behalf of the company, the policy is considered “in force.”  If subsequent investigations by the underwriting department determine that the risk does not meet company guidelines, the underwriter can cancel the policy with adequate legal notice.  Any claim arising during the period when the policy is considered ‘paid” will be covered.
