If the food spoilage is a result of a covered peril then yes the food would be covered in most cases.  For example, a major windstorm causes a power outage for an extended period of time.  As long as reasonable efforts were made to conserve the food it would most likely be covered subject to your deductible.  Since most people carry a $500 or $1000 deductible it may not be to your advantage to turn in a claim if that is all that is lost.  Most people do not have that much spoilable food in their refrigerator and freezer.
