Unless a policy specifically excludes such damage, then it would be covered. It is best to check with your Insurance Professional about the specific terms and conditions of your policy because they can vary region by region. In coastal areas for example, in addition to the standard policy property deductible, the policy may also contain a separate deductible for windstorm or hurricane.

When there is an occurrence that isn’t expected or intended by the owner to the roof there is probably coverage. This coverage means payment for physical injury to tangible property and this includes the loss of use. Many companies adjust a roof claim by the life of the roof rather than the replacement cost.

Unless wind is specifically excluded, which would be extremely rare,( I have never seen it), then damage done by a tornado is covered. However, keep in mind that homes near the coast or tornado prone areas, generally have a separate and much higher deductible for damage done by windstorm aka tornado then the deductible for all other covered perils such as fire or water damage from leaking pipes or theft.
