It depends on the policy form of your homeowners policy.  Check to see if you have an HO-3 or HO-5 policy form which is a special form policy or "all risks".  These policies cover water damage (not a flooding event from natural causes) from plumbing.  Some policies are limited and may exclude water damage such as an Owner Occupied Dwelling Form 1 policy.

Always ask your agent if you are concerned about water damage and if your policy covers some of your conerns.
