    Medicare Part D is your prescription coverage for self-administered drugs. When you have a covered inpatient hospital stay, Medicare Part A will cover your medicines administered during your stay. Medicare Part B only covers some types of drugs, typically those that aren't self-administered or are given during a doctor's office visit or procedure.
