    Yes. Medicare covers a bone density test under Medicare Part B. The test is covered once every 2 years. It can be covered more than once in 2 years if your doctor orders the exam because he/she deems it medically necessary.

    If your doctor wants you to have a bone density test it will be covered under Medicare Part B since that is a diagnostic test done on an outpatient basis. Medicare Part B will cover 80% of the cost of the test once you have met the Part B annual deductible of $166. If you have a Medicare Supplement it will cover the 20% Medicare leaves off.
