Most homeowner’s policies cover a specific location. This location is identified in the declarations of the policy. If you own other property which you hold out for rent you can cover those properties with a fire policy which is cheaper because there isn’t much coverage for personal property. If the tenant damages that rental property it will be the definitions in the fire policy that will determine if coverage is available.
