Earnings for a life insurance agent vary greatly.  The national average is around $40,000 per year with a lot of variance on both ends (i.e. some earn less than $20,000 per year and others make more than $100,000 per year)

Since most life insurance agents are paid by commissions only, the actual income they derive on a year basis is highly dependent the number and/or size of sales they close.

Life insurance agents in Florida make incomes that vary greatly. Some are agents part time and have full time jobs elsewhere, while others put in over 60 hours per week into building up their business. Some are starting out on a shoestring, while others are being financed by a large agency and helped to get on their feet before going to commission only.
