Most renter’s or tenant’s insurance policies cover lost jewelry.  However, they almost always limit the amount of loss.  Frequently the limit is around $1000.  That loss would be adjusted by the deductible.  If you require more coverage, most tenants’ policies can be endorsed to provide worldwide coverage for jewelry.  These endorsements normally require an appraisal and the value stated is the appraised amount.
