Your auto insurance will not cover a transmission repair that is not created through a covered incident, such as an accident and you had collision coverage on your vehicle if you were at fault or if you were not at fault under the liability coverage of the person deemed responsible. There are auto repair policies out there but there are none that are part of a regular auto insurance policy that I am aware of. To find out what coverage is available in your area, call your local agent.

Unless the transmission repairs needed were caused from a covered loss such as collision or comprehensive loss such as a theft there would be no coverage. Wear and tear and or breakdown are not perils of an auto insurance policy. A separate warranty would be your option if such an option is available for your vehicle.

It depends upon why your transmission needed to be repaired. A motor vehicle warranty and extended warranties cover material defects and mechanical breakdowns. The warranty may be limited by time and mileage.

Auto insurance covers vehicle repairs resulting from accidents. Collision covers damages resulting from accidents while you are driving the vehicle. Comprehensive coverage pays for damages caused by external forces: flood, tree falling on car, etc.

Your auto policy may or may not have these optional coverage features.
