Car insurance covers you if you are drunk. But after you get your DUI, your premiums are likely to substantially increase. Shortly after the DUI,you may receive a letter referencing an SR-22 bond which you may have to purchase.

The solution...You knew this was coming...Don't drink and drive!

Insurance follows the car.  As long as the driver is either an insured or is operating the vehicle with insured’s permission damages caused in a collision will be covered under the auto policy.  As has been pointed out, the cost for having an accident while driving under the influence are substantial.  Anticipate expenses of several thousand dollars and possible loss of driving privileges.
