To find the total amount add the gross auto premiums from all the carriers.  If you want to know an average amount, you could divide that sum by the number of units insured.  If you want a ball park figure of what to expect to pay you will find that the amount varies by location, vehicles insured, driving record and several other items depending upon the state.  If you are trying to get the “best deal,” you might well accept lower limits only to discover that the policy is inadequate when a claim comes.  In that case you will find that you paid too little, and it costs a great deal more.
