Depending on your circumstances and the type of coverage that you are seeking. You could have an auto insurance policy within minutes up to days depending on the amount of information that you can provide the carrier and your motor vehicle history and your financial stability. The more complex your driving record and your financial history possibly the longer the process.

Usually, if you have all driver information, ss, dr license, date of birth, ss number and name of prior insurance company with their policy number and all auto information such as mileage and identifiication serial number AND if you need physical damage coverage (required by law by banks) upi will need the vehicles at the agent office for inspection and one adult owner operator. Done in a hour unless you want to talk about your neighbors, ex husband, grand kids, politics or religion then it usually is at least 4 hours to two days
