Of course, surfing the internet is a great general way to start to narrow your search.  Look for Insurance Companies that are consistently rated very high among the financial rating services such as A M Best, Moody and the like.  Next, talk to your Insurance Professional about what options you may have.  Independent agents can offer an array of companies, of course, but understand that they cannot offer products and services that offer their solutions only through their agents.   In most cases, for example, an independent agent does not have access to Nationwide Insurance Company products.  Ultimately it is up to you to decide which solution best suits your needs and budget.

Great question! There are so many choices out there to choose from, and it is wise to shop around, especially for insurance. The internet can be a useful tool, and many people are relying upon it more and more to help find the option they are looking for. Unfortunately, most advertised quotes are "best case" scenarios, and often are not  what you will end up paying. The personal variables of what you need makes it difficult for a machine to figure out what you will really pay. Find an independent agent (one not tied to a single company) to compare prices. Call your existing agent, and see if they will provide a discount for adding coverages ( most will, and the discounts can be substantial). Have an idea what you have to spend, and talk it over before you sign anything. Look for best coverage at the lowest cost, and with the lowest deductible that you can afford. If you need help, feel free to contact me, I'm happy to help. Thanks for asking!

Purchase insurance from an insurance agent that you trust.  If you don’t have an agent, secure recommendations from friends, colleagues or neighbors.  The most important thing about an agent is his or her willingness to listen to you.  Insurance is very personal.  Setting the limits for each insurance policy is critical. The measure of this entire process is at the time of a claim.  When the limits are adequate and the coverage sufficiently comprehensive, you will be satisfied.  Price becomes irrelevant when you have a claim.

Shopping for auto and homeowner's insurance can save you time and money...if done the right way.

Firstly, always work with an experienced broker. 20 years of experience would be nice and 3o years would be terrific! Make sure they have a reputable website and keep it active.

And let the broker do the hard work for you. In my 33 years in the business, that's the type of work we do best. Getting the best rates for customers and ensuring the policy offers the highest amount of coverage for the premium that is paid.

Need a low down payment or same-day coverage? An SR-22 Bond? It can be done!
