The minimum liability requirements for car insurance in West Virginia is $20,000 per person, $40,000 per occurrence and an additional $10,000 for property damage. Although you are "legal" when you have these coverages, you should always consider increasing the amounts, if it is affordable.

Like most states, you are also required to carry proof of insurance in your vehicle at all times.

All of the major carriers offer minimum limits. To properly compare the best auto insurance prices in West Virginia, utilize an experienced broker (and their website) to easily view the companies that have the most affordable options in your area. You are never charged any fees for shopping and comparing.

Agree with everything Ed said. In addition to liability coverage, West Virginia also has a rather strange uninsured motorist coverage requirement......

In most states, uninsured motorist and under-insured motorist are both either required, or they are not.

In West Virginia, uninsured motorist coverage is required, but under-insured motorist coverage is optional.

WV requires the same coverage for uninsured motorist as they do liability: 20K per person, 40K per occurrence for uninsured motorist bodily injury and 10K of uninsured motorist property damage.
