    "PD" refers to property damage or physical damage that is caused to the property of another, as a result of your negligence in a vehicle related accident .  It is your liability coverage but for property only, i.e. to someone else's auto, a fire-hydrant, a fence, etc., as a result of your vehicle negligence.     
    It does not respond to bodily injuries.  (Those are covered in your policy under BI limits.)      

    With PD, you choose the limit of liability you want, for your particular needs.   Most times, the minimum limit is dictated by law.  

    Another valuable coverage under property damage is for legal defense costs for which you may be sued, as a result of the physical damages
