   Liability and property damage coverage is required to protect the other party in the event you are liable for damages or injury. Back in the old days when auto insurance was an option the courts were flooded with people being sued for injury and property damage. Something you really do not want to go through. Now laws have been passed to protect drivers on the road for these situations.
