Obamacare applies to traditional health insurance plans that reimburse medical practitioners who provide care. The health insurance plans negotiate with providers, set reimbursement rates for specified procedures, and make benefit payments directly to the providers.

Disability insurance replaces a portion of income during the time a policyholder is unable to work because of a covered accident or illness. Benefit payments are made directly to the insured

The two are completely different types of insurance policies. The Affordable Care Act did not address disability insurance.

Fortunately the answer to your question is "No". The Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) applies directly to major medical health insurance coverage and spills over into the areas of dental and vision insurance (through the mandated inclusion of pediatric dental & vision coverage in group & individual health insurance plans). At this time the Affordable Care Act does not extend to disability and life insurance plans.

That is a great question! I get that question a lot, I think because there has been so much mis-information thrown out there about the ACA (Obamacare). It makes it really hard to sort out what is true, and what is thrown out there to scare people. The truth is that disability insurance has nothing to do with health insurance, you could compare it to apples and oranges - both are good for you, but aren't the same. I'm not sure why you were asking, if there is a more specific question that you need answered, please contact me, and I'd be happy to help answer it for you. Thanks for asking!
