Is this question asking about experiencing a disability event and retroactively obtaining insurance? The answer is no. But Supplemental Security Income (SSI), goes back to the initial date of application, but generally not to the date of disability and can be awarded back to 12 months. There is an appeal process, but don't hang your hopes on it.
