Short Term Disability Insurance is intended to cover people if they have minor health conditions, injuries, or pregnancies that cause them to be off work for a few months (up to a maximum of 2 years). If you have enough savings to cover you if you are off work for approx 6 months, you may not need to purchase Short Term Disability.
