    Some of the tradeoffs to consider in selecting disability insurance are the length of the elimination period (the shorter the elimination period, the higher the cost), the amount of the benefit (you choose to replace a percent of your income, and you can choose a lower percent to save premium), the length of time you want the policy to pay (picking a certain number of years versus until the age of retirement will cost less), and the type and number of riders on the policy.

    What are the trade offs in selecting disability? Well this may be hard to answer because with most disability plans if you're working with a good agent you can build a disability policy to be exactly what you want. I guess the trade off is paying for what you select.
