    Temporary Disability Insurance is provided by five states and Puerto Rico. The states are New Jersey, Rhode Island, Hawaii, California, and New York. The benefits pay for partial loss of wages suffered from disability not occurring on the job, and causing the person to not be able to work temporarily.
