    Some coverage characteristics of disability insurance include the length of time that the disability insurance would last, how much of the income it would replace, whether it covered partial or residual disability, whether it had future benefit increase options, and whether it covered the insured person's own occupation so that the benefit would not end unless the insured person was able to go back 100% to his/her old occupation.
