    Barry Cohn
President, RGEB Employee Benefits, Los Angeles
Beginning January 1, 2015 employers with 100 or more employers have a choice to offer health insurance to their employees and child dependents or pay a penalty (tax). If they choose to offer health insurance they must offer a health plan that meets the minimum coverage requirement, the employees cannot pay more than 9.56% of their income for their portion and the employer must pay at least 50% of the employee only premium.

The other option is to pay a tax of $2,000 per employee after the first 80 employees in 2015 and after the first 30 employees in 2016. The penalty or tax is not tax deductible.
