AFLAC is not traditional health insurance.  They sell supplemtary insurance policies that cover specific events or conditions. Some of their policies cover accidents, critical illness, cancer and hospital confinement.  The policies ususally run in the neighborhood of $20 to $40 dollars a month.

As an illustration, the cancer policy provides a fixed dollar benefit if you are diagnosed with cancer such as $5,000.  If you have chemo you can a fixed dollar amount for eacy chemo treatment let's say $350 .

All AFLAC insurance policies pay you directly and not medical providers.
