Many insurance companies do not have policies that can be transferred from state to state and it is best to ask your provider if they do or not. How do you transfer health insurance from state to state? Well in most cases you don't transfer your health plan, you transfer the fact that you have carried insurance before and should not be subject to pre-existing clauses. That is what "Portability" means. You are able to transfer your history of having insurance to a new insurance plan.
