The gates open at midnight November 15th, 2014 and run through February 15th, 2015.  Nothing says holiday season to me like health insurance open enrollment, but at least now you can make some plans for your off time this Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Absent a change of life status event (e.g. - marriage, divorce, child birth, etc.) between now and then, any person who hasn't gotten health insurance by the March 31, 2014 end of open enrollment is locked out of the individual health insurance marketplace.

While it is too early (mid-May 2014) to know exactly what health insurance plans will look like and cost for 2015, the general assessment is that the vast majority of marketplaces will see rates go up (though perhaps not as high as some feared), health plan product designs will be added and removed from the marketplace based upon what carriers learned in the first year of ObamaCare, some carriers will withdraw while other carriers are deciding to enter or expand their marketplace presences.

In short, the health insurance world is getting more complicated not less.  Seek out the services of an experienced health insurance broker representing all carriers early on in your search process.  It should cost you nothing and save you a lot of headaches.
