A homeowner’s policy is written for a specific term, normally one year.  The company is not obligated to renew the policy.  The policy can be cancelled mid-term if the company discovers fraud or deception in the application.  It can also be cancelled if a routine inspection finds unsafe conditions.  Frequently those conditions can be addressed and the policy cancellation reversed.  There are some, however, that cannot be corrected.
