A homeowner’s policy can be cancelled at any time.  Notify the company or the agent.  The company will issue an endorsement that shows that the policy is cancelled.  They will send that endorsement to you and to your mortgage company.  On the date that the endorsement states, all coverage will cease.  If you haven’t replaced the policy with another, the mortgage company will send you a letter.  They can force issue a policy and that is rarely in your best interests.
