In addition to personal property that you own, a homeowner’s policy covers property that is in your care custody and control.  If you have borrowed a bed from a parent and it is damaged due to a named peril (i.e. fire) the insurer will either give you the current value of the bed or the replacement value of the bed depending on the coverage that you selected.  This money would be given to you minus the deductible.
