If your current carrier is dropping your coverage you can begin by contacting other carriers or independant agents within your area to attempt to secure coverage. To the best of my knowledge every state has a coverage pool that is used to get the difficult to insure coverage through companies that operate within that state at a rate that is compatible.

Insurance companies cancel homeowner’s policies under very strict conditions.  If your coverage was cancelled there is probably something about the property that needs immediate attention.  When the fault is corrected there will be insurance companies interested in the policy.  If the condition is so severe that it cannot be repaired, such as erosion near the property line or a massive sink hole, there will still be companies that will provide coverage.  You need to contact a property insurance broker who handles impaired risks.
