A homeowner’s policy covers damages to personal property.  Although limited, there is extended coverage to personal property that is not in the residence.  The company will repair or replace the damaged item on either an actual cash value (what is it worth today) or a replacement (what will it cost to replace) basis.  The amount that you recover will be reduced by the amount of your deductible.
