That is a good question! As you are likely aware, Home insurance rates in MN have seen steady increases over the past year and a half. This is due to the substantial amount of weather related claims we have had here in the last 5 years. I personally represent over a dozen companies and I really can't say that one is going to have a better rate than the other. In fact, most of these companies will no longer write a stand alone Home insurance policy. They are requiring that you also place your Auto insurance with them. This can be beneficial to you as there are additional discounts that would apply to both policies if they are packaged together with the same company.

Your best bet is to contact an independent agent and have them put together some quotes for you. You can then compare coverage and price and make an informed decision.

Don't just stop with independent agents.  They can't give you access to the wonderful captive companies out there!  I work for American National and we offer a program called cashback where we return 25% of your premium after 3 years of claim-free record... and it continues each and every year claim free!  If you want more info call me, Brad @ 651.300.0788
